Saghro and Saharan dunes: a crossing between mountain and desert

This unique trek connects the volcanic reliefs of Djebel Saghro aux Desert dunes in southern Morocco, offering a spectacular transition between mineral mountains and Saharan landscapes.
Throughout the stages, you cross mountain passes, plateaus frequented by nomads, emblematic rocky peaks such as Bab n'Ali, before joining the dunes and palm groves of the Draa Valley.
A balanced itinerary between hiking, cultural immersion and bivouacs under the stars, in the heart of a wild and preserved Morocco.

Reception at Ouarzazate airport, transfer and installation at the hotel.

Free meals.

Transfer to the Dades Valley via Kelaa M'Gouna. Arrival at the village of Aït Youl (1,590 m) and meeting with the team of mule riders. Start of the hike in the direction of the Saghro massif. The landscape gradually became more mineral, punctuated by gorges, rocky peaks and a few isolated villages. Settling in a lodge in Tagdilt (1,650 m).

Walk: approx. 4 hours — D+ 60 m/D- 60 m.

Start of the trek in the Saghro massif. Progressive ascent from the valley, crossing canyons and crossing the Tizi n'Ouzarzam pass (2,300 m), offering an unobstructed view of the M'Goun massif and the Dades Plain.Installation of the bivouac on a plateau frequented by nomads.

Walk: approx. 5 hours — D+ 650 m/D- 100 m.

Ascent to the Imi n'Ouarg pass (2,200 m), then ascent to the summit of Kouaouch (2,600 m), the highest point of the circuit. Panorama of the central High Atlas and the southern desert areas. Descent to the Igli plateau, in the middle of tabular reliefs and nomadic camps.

Bivouac.
Walk: approx. 5:30 — D+ 400 m/D- 750 m.
Meals included.

Descent through a green valley (Afourar), punctuated by crops and rammed earth houses. Passage through the rocky peaks of Bab n'Ali.After lunch, transfer to the Saredrar camp via N'Kob and Tazzarine.Installation in a furnished camp.

Walk: approx. 5:30 — D+ 150 m/D- 650 m.
Meals included.

Departure with the team of camel drivers. Day of walking between wadis, acacias and desert landscapes to the dunes of Foum Tizza.Setting up the bivouac in the dunes.

Last walk in an oasis in the Draa Valley. Discovery of the palm grove and the traditional irrigation system.Lunch on site, then return to Ouarzazate.Check-in at the hotel, end of the afternoon at leisure.
